Tribute from Mei Li (from Funeral)

Mummy is a dear mum and friend to me. As I got older it became a saying that were like sisters, as she used to say, I am “Mini mummy”. Our days filled with shopping sprees, girly talks or personal mum to daughter moments which I cherished dearly. The most significant lesson I learnt from her was that the most important thing is to be healthy and to cherish every single day on this earth. She was fighting for every day of her life and it taught me how precious it is to be able to eat food when she was unable to or even be living. I always appreciated that Mum was greatly involved in my own life, she would talk to me about my favourite games, listen to my music and take me to art museums, little actions which showed she cared so much for me. In her last months she put so much dedication into researching future universities for me- despite knowing she would likely not see these happen in her lifetime. She was still thinking of me far beyond her life. There is so much selflessness in that despite the end of her life, she ultimately still wants her Babbyyang to succeed and live on. I promised her in that hospital room that I want to make her proud and I know that even now she is cheering me on. Mummy’s endless love, kindness and self-sacrifice for others shows how much of an inspiration she is for me. There is no doubt in my mind that she has lifted the spirits of everyone around her and for that her life carries immense purpose and value not only to me, but to all of us here today. Her silly attitude and vibrant spirit has made her a joy to be around and I am thankful that I could have such a wonderful mum raise me into who I am today, I miss you dearly. Thank you Mama, wo ai ni.
